It seems like from mid-October through Christmas my oven is always hot baking some delicious, seasonal dessert and November is all about pies. Lucky Leaf got their start by selling fresh applesauce, but soon began making ready-to-use pie filling when American women became busy with more than just housewife duties! Today, they offer a wide selection of ready-to-use pie fillings including Premium Cherry, Apple, Peach, Blueberry, Lemon, Red Raspberry, Lite, and Crème. I love working with Lucky Leaf and trying out their fabulous recipes.
Ingredients
2 prepared pie crusts
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon allspice
2 21-ounce cans Lucky Leaf Premium Apple Pie Filling
12 caramel squares
1 teaspoon milk
1/2 cup chopped pecans
egg wash
1 teaspoon sugar
Instructions
Preheat oven to 425. Place one pie crust in a baking dish.
Combine spices with Lucky Leaf Premium Apple Pie Filling
Pour apple mixture into crust. Melt caramels and milk in microwave-safe bowl for about a minute, stirring twice.
Pour melted caramels over Apple Pie Filling.
Place pecans on top and cover with the second crust. Vent crust for baking.
Brush top of crust with the beaten egg wash and sprinkle with 1 teaspoon sugar.
Bake for 45 minutes
Results: This pie was absolutely delicious! The apple pie filling was really soft after baking and the spices made the pie really flavorful. It was also extremely easy to make which is a real bonus during the hectic holidays.
