It is hard to believe it has been 20 years since my mom handed me the book Chicken Soup for the Soul excitedly proclaiming that I HAD to read it. So, when I received a copy of  Chicken Soup for the Soul 20th Anniversary Edition: All Your Favorite Original Stories Plus 20 Bonus Stories for the Next 20 Years I stared lovingly at the familiar and simple white and green cover similar to the original and remembered sitting in my childhood bedroom, reading one story after the other.  At times I laughed, at times I cried. Every time I read, I felt inspired. The Chicken Soup for the Soul series has come a long way since the original publication, but there is something about that original collection that I still adore.

This edition is more eclectic than there more recent, themed editions. The stories, written by regular, everyday people are organized into the following chapters:

Chicken Soup for the Soul Review: When I first read the original Chicken Soup for the Soul book I was in a very different place in my life. As a teenager who was struggling with, well, being a teenager I read the stories as a way to inspire me and help me realize that the world is much bigger than me, my school, and my problems. It helped me realize that everybody struggles and most people get through these struggles, many times stronger than before. Now as I read these stories, I can relate to many of the stories. I am still inspired and can appreciate some stories, such as those in the On Parenting chapter, in a whole new way.  Revisiting this book, along with the 20 new chapters, was really great and I would encourage all of you Chicken Soup for the Soul lovers to do the same!
