As you have been able to tell from the other Birthday Week posts, I love throwing themed-birthday parties for my kids. Since their birthdays are only a couple of months apart, I alternate between throwing a large party and small party every other year for each child. When they are due for a large party, I tend to transform our home in a birthday wonderland! After choosing a theme, I try my best to have decorations, foods, and even activities match the theme. So, I loved the idea of Angie Morrissey's new Birthday in a Book products.
Currently, she offers two themes: Princess Tea Party and Mad Scientist. Each eBook contains just about everything you need to throw a really awesome party. The Princess Tea Party is designed for children ages 1-12 with up to 12 "princess" guests. I actually threw my daughter a Rapunzel Princess Tea Party last year for her and her friends and they had a blast with the theme. I would have loved to have this book before hand because it would have taken a lot of the work out of the preparations. The book has a schedule for activities, costume ideas, menu, favors, and decorations! I love Morrissey's attention to detail. For example, she not only has instructions for things like decorating, but she also includes an estimated time that it will take to make the decorations so you really know what you are getting into and can appropriately manage your time.
Also included is a link to printables so you can save some serious time by using these resources. For the Princess Tea Party, for example, there are printables for Tea Time Bingo Cards, place settings, food label tents, and more. She includes a listing of party supplies that can be purchased as well and she also takes the work out this - she includes hyperlinks and estimated costs right in the eBook! Of course, there are also some delicious looking recipes. If you are throwing a Princess themed party anytime in your future, this eBook will be your best buy!
I also had the opportunity to review the the Mad Scientist Party eBook. A great theme for a boy or a girl, this book is a ton of fun and is quite versatile as it could be used for a party or by teachers or camp counselors to create some really fun themed activities! Like the Princess Tea Party book, everything you could possibly need to know is included in this book. I really enjoyed looking through this book because the theme is just so much fun! The foods/recipes are adorable and science-themed. For example, there are "Brain-iac Wraps" and "Petri Dish Desserts"! The party activities are experiments, of course, and they can be used any time and I look forward to trying some of them with my kids on a rainy day. Again, there are plenty of printables, links for purchases, and step-by-step guides for all activities, recipes, and decorations. Looking at this book really made me want to throw a science-themed party!!
