I adore my dogs. They are not just our pets, they are part of our family. I am all about spoiling them and was excited to have the opportunity to review an assortment of products from Pork Chomps. Pork Chomps are made from easily digestible expanded, baked pork skin rather than beef rawhide. A study showed that Pork Chomps were proven to be 99.9% digestible compared to rawhide chews, which were only 50-85% digestible. Unlike rawhide chews that need to be basted, flavored, or stuffed to get a dog's attention, Premium Pork Chomps' baked pork skins have a natural flavor.
Chews are an important part of dog's daily diet because they promote dental health and fulfill a dog's natural urge to chew. However, they can swallow large pieces which can cause intestinal blockages or other digestive issues which is why Pork Chomps are a better choice than rawhides. Additionally, there is evidence that Pork Chomp products can reduce cholesterol and triglyceride levels in dogs! There are products available in the Premium line (features several natural flavors; sweet potato, duck and chicken) and Traditional line (Flavors include: Bacon, Baked, Roasted Pepperoni and Peanut butter).
Pork Chomps Review: I was given an awesome assortment of products for my dogs to review. I was amazed at how many products the company had to offer and figured I would be able to find the perfect treat for each of my dogs. I love the idea of giving my dogs treats and chews, but I have historically run into problems. My Boxer, Butch, is really picky. I refer to him as a "Treat Snob". He typically grabs a chew, drops it on the ground, smells it a little, and walks away. My Bulldog, Buttercup, on the other hand will eat just about anything but if she gets too excited and eats the chew to quickly, she vomits foamy froth which is really disgusting to have to clean up. Both tend to get gassy after chews and the whole family has to suffer.
I figured with the wonderful assortment I received that I would be able to find the perfect chew for each of my high maintenance dogs. Butch remained picky as we tried the different products. True to his "Treat Snob" nickname, he preferred the Premium line of products more than the Traditional line which he tended to walk away from. The Earz seemed to be his favorite. I know when he really likes a chew when he grabs it and runs to hide so Buttercup won't try to steal it. Buttercup, of course, ate every product I gave her. Unfortunately, I had to clean up a foamy mess with most of them. I did find, however, that the small Twistz seemed to go down just fine without coming back up. These gave my Boxer terrible gas, but Buttercup seemed to have no problem. I was happy that all of the chews were low on odor. We have had chews and rawhides before that just about gagged me because the scent was so strong.
I was very glad that my dogs had the opportunity to try the variety of products because now I know what I can buy for them. It looks like we will be stocking up on Earz and other premium products for Butch and Twistz for Buttercup!
