How to make ghost cupcakes:
Materials/Ingredients:
Your favorite cupcake recipe (or boxed mix),baked
Your favorite frosting recipe (or canned frosting), prepared
Your favorite fondant recipe (or premade fondant), prepared
Suckers (I used Blow Pops)
Decorating bag and tip 21 (optional) and 2
Block of Styrofoam
Vegetable shortening
Rolling pin
Instructions:
Frost the cupcakes using tip 21 or using a spatula.
Remove wrappers from suckers and place in Styrofoam. Prepare a work surface by lightly greasing with vegetable shortening. Roll out fondant until fairly thin and then cut into a circle. To achieve a perfect circle, I used a cottage cheese lid. Peel the fondant up from the surface and drape over the sucker. It will have natural folds so you will likely need to do few, if any, manipulations once it is draped.
Push sucker stick into the center of the frosted cupcakes. Add two small dots using colored frosting and tip 2.
See how easy it is! I received the super adorable Haunted Cupcake Display from Good Cook and thought that these cupcakes, along with pumpkin decorated and candy corn decorated ones, looked so adorable on the stand. The stand was easy to assemble and is made from corrugated cardboard. There are three tiers and the stand can hold up to 24 cupcakes. Because there is a decorative border around the stand, it is a little difficult to get the cupcakes in them without ruining the frosting on the cupcake, so I put the stand together 1 tier at a time and placed the cupcakes in each tier before adding another. For being cardboard, it is a fairly steady stand thought I would recommend placing it on a large plate or board of some kind if you need to move the stand once the cupcakes are on it. The stand can be disassembled easily so can use it year after year!
