From the Fall/Winter Scala Collezione collection, boiled wool hats make for weather resistant and fashionable headwear. The eco-friendly process of altering the material eliminates the usage of harsh chemicals while effectively shrinking the wool. Subsequently, the heat traps air chambers, forming a natural barrier against hot and cold temperatures and wind. The felt-like texture is softer, warmer, and eliminates the itchy feeling associated with wool.
Review: I am not a huge fan of wearing hats; however, I get sick very easily and live in Pennsylvania where the winters are long and harsh so hat wearing is a must in the fall and winter. Some of the reasons I dislike wearing them is because I get self conscious if the hat is not overly attractive or get overheated if the hat is too bulky. The minute I saw the Dorfman Pacific hats I loved the way they looked and thought it would be worth it to give one a try.
I love the design of the hat as it looks fashionable and grown-up (I feel so immature when I wear regular winter hats). It does a really good job of keeping my head warm without it getting me overheated which is a real bonus. Although the outside is wool, the inside is satin so I can wear it without getting itchy. My only complaint is that it fits a bit too small on my head. I have a super round head/face and do have trouble with one-size-fits-all styles. There is some elastic on the inside of the hat in the back but it is not enough for my plus-size nugget. This is really a moot point because the minute the hat arrived my daughter dove at it and begged and pleaded with me to let her keep it. She too has a super-sized head but since she is only 8 she has quite a few years of hat wearing ahead of her before she runs into the same problem.
