The booklet is extremely helpful and was very detailed. For example, it would not only explain what to eat and what the guidelines are for the program, but why you need to eat the foods. I was concerned about the caloric intake recommendations (under 1000) but found that the combinations of carbs, proteins, and fats along with the Amino Diet Plus drops kept me from feeling hungry. Additionally, the program calls for a lot of water intake....and I do mean A LOT. I drink quite a bit of water throughout the day but I still had trouble drinking as much as it calls for (half of your weight in ounces).
I have not been as successful as I would have liked, but it is not the fault of the diet plan. I have lost a few pounds; however, I am struggling to keep on track. I have lots of excuses, so I will share just a few: I am extremely stressed at work and I am a stress-eater, I am extremely busy at home and can't remember to drink that much water, I have a lot of baking and food products to review which makes giving up sugar just about impossible, and most importantly I am trying to make a behavioral change when I am just not ready.
I am not giving up and have been trying to implement and maintain small changes and have learned some things that really do help. For one, I need to write down everything I eat and counting calories can really help. I tend to resist the urge for snacks when I am not hungry when I have to write it down and admit that I am eating more than I think. I also learned that I was underestimating my water intake and that drinking a lot of water has done wonders for my skin.
I am hoping that my motivation and feel pretty confident that when it does, this will be a very helpful program for me. For now, I am going to take it one day at a time and continue to try my best. After all, a few pounds lost is better that no pounds lost! I have not been taking advantage of the health coach as much as I should, partly out of embarrassment. My next step is to better utilize her for support and then I plan on reporting back in a few weeks to a month to let you know how I am doing. Wish me luck!
