Making a masculine cake can be difficult since cake decorating classes are all about flowers. So, I relied on some classic candies - M&Ms! Well, mini M&Ms anyhow. For an extra special treat, I poured a chocolate over the sides.
To make the chocolate, you simply melt 1/2 tub of frozen whipped topping and 2 oz semi-sweet baking chocolate. Put the ingredients in the microwave for 1 minute, stir, and 30-60 more seconds until chocolate is melted and stir until the mixture is well blended. Allow it to cool 5 minutes before putting it on the cake.
You can pour the chocolate mixture easily using a batter bowl or a gravy bowl. Try to stay somewhat close to the sides, allowing the chocolate to sporadically pour down the sides. Try to limit the amount that ends up on your board but you don't have to be perfect because you can cover it up with a border later. After making a border, sprinkle on the mini M&Ms and add some colorful lettering and "confetti" frosting to the top.
