20 Mule Team Borax is 100% natural mineral from the Earth. Once removed from the ground it is washed, dried, and boxed for consumers. Borax is the common name for sodium tetraborate: a naturally occurring substance produced by the perpetual evaporation of seasonal lakes. There are NO additives! To boost your detergent, you simply add 1/2 cup to every load, along with your regular detergent. It will help improve your detergent's cleaning power and keep stains from being re-deposited back onto clothes.
Review: Ever since the weather has warmed up, my daughter has been outside playing non-stop. By the end of the day, she comes in and is caked in mud! While I love the fact that she is outside and getting active, laundry time has been challenging. The sock pictured below is so muddy that it could stand up on its own and was hard as a rock!
After washing, the sock was soft and clean again. It was an older sock and already fairly stained and the color was dulled (hey, I am not sending her out in good clothes!)
I definitely think that Borax enhanced the detergent! I had a lot of luck with this load because I washed her muddy clothes separately and it was a pretty small load. The next load was my normal, larger load and I had a little more trouble with the powder. I have a front-loading washer so I had to add the Borax right into the tube before there was water. As a result, some of the clothes were covered in wet powder when the wash was done. It looks like I will only be able to use this product when I have smaller loads.
