It is Earth Day tomorrow! While you may be accustomed to making New Year's resolutions, Earth Day can be a great day to start a earth-friendly resolution. If you need an idea, you may want to consider removing the toxins from your normal cleaning routine and start a Green Clean resolution. Leslie Reichert, the Green Cleaning Coach, is dedicated to helping people learn how to effectively clean your house without causing damage to yourself, your family, and the environment. Here are some of my favorites from the cleaning kit I received:
Eco Sponge - This sponge is from Germany and uses the technology of friction instead of chemicals. It can be used to remove soap scum in your shower and also for cleaning sinks and countertops - all without chemicals. It also works on dry erase boards!
Review: We have a large dry-erase calendar that I fill out weekly to keep us organized. I have been frustrated with the board because sometime it does not erase easily and can leave it looking messy and dirty. The marker was really easy to erase with this sponge. Plus, I love that there are so many uses for one sponge! It is very comparable to the Magic Eraser; however, I felt that the Eco Sponge was of better quality and will probably last a lot longer.

Blue Cloth - This cloth takes the place of your "blue glass cleaner and paper towels". By using just water and this cloth you can clean your windows without any streaks, smears, or lint. You can use this on anything you would normally use a glass cleaner (that's why it's blue). It's great for stainless steel, glass fronted appliances and even granite countertops.
Review: I really had my doubts about this one. After all, how can water and cloth clean better than window cleaner? Well, it can and it did! I was absolutely amazed at how well this cloth works. It not only cleaned but there were less streaks than when I clean with actual glass cleaner. I seriously never have to buy glass cleaner or paper towels again!

Skoy Cloths - Just one Skoy cloth takes the place of 15 rolls of paper towels - yes, ROLLS. They are a cross between a sponge and a paper towel that you can continually reuse. They can last up to 6 weeks, but can last much longer as well with proper care (pop them in the washer and dryer).
Review: I used the Skoy cloth on various surfaces to see how it measure up compared to paper towels. It worked great for cleaning kitchen and bathroom surfaces. I love that they can be cleaned in a washing machine. Since I clean different rooms on different days, this allowed me to clean it in between different uses so there was no cross-contamination. It also worked well as a washcloth. It was soft enough to be used on my children's hands (in fact, it is softer than the washcloths we usually use!). It also worked well to clean up spills. I found it to be very absorbent and was quickly able to soak up spills and then easily wring it out in the sink. In fact, it worked better than a paper towel because 1 Skoy cloth cleaned up the entire mess. It would have easily taken 3-4 paper towels to do the same job.
