I have been watching a lot of documentaries on healthy eating in order to motivate me to live a healthier lifestyle and I came across a documentary on vegetarian lifestyles. I could really never understand a choice to live as a vegetarian; however, after seeing the cruel ways animals can be treated on farms, I can definitely see why people make that choice. While I would never personally give up all animal products, I have been thinking about switching to products that come from more humane farms (and have been limiting my meat intake).
Pete and Gerry's and Nellie's Cage-Free Eggs are both Certified Humane Raised & Handled. They keep their hens in spacious cage-free barns where they can roam, scratch, perch, and nest as they please. Their farms meet all standards of the Humane Farm Animal Care Program. Pete & Gerry's organic eggs are packed with essential vitamins, minerals, and proteins and come from hens fed only organic grain - free from antibiotics, medications, pesticides, and herbicides. Nellie's Nest Cage-Free eggs come from hens fed only the finest natural grains. Both brands eggs contain 200mg of Omega-3 fatty acids per egg and they come in egg cartons made from recycled, crystal-clear PETE 1 plastic.
I had the pleasure of reviewing Pete & Gerry's eggs this past holiday season. You can read my review here.
