The other day I was helping my 10-year-old son study for a Social Studies test. I was looking up different landforms on my iPad so he could better understand the definitions. While my iPad was on my lap, I accidentally pushed a couple of letters into the search bar and up pops some porn pictures. Yikes! Luckily, I was able to change the screen before my children saw it but it reminded me that I have to monitor what my children are doing on the computer.
Not only do I need to teach my children how to properly search the web to avoid looking at inappropriate sites, I also have been working with them on general internet safety. My son does a lot of online gaming and I am always reminding him that he can only talk to kids he knows and that he should never reveal his name, age, or location to anyone he does not know.
