Boys & Girls Club Back to School Preparations

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Boys & Girls Clubs of America. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

Back to School Preparations: School will be back in session for my children in a week and a half. It is hard to believe summer is almost over and I have been working hard to prepare for this upcoming school year. One of the most daunting back-to-school tasks is shopping for school supplies. Over the years, I have become quite an expert at it. My best advice to you - buy extra while it is on sale! You can get glue for a quarter, paper for a penny, and pens for next to nothing.  Your kids are going to need to replenish their school supplies 2-3 times during the school year and you are not going to find these deals again! I typically buy 3 times the amount of everything on their school supply list and keep the extras in a drawer. This way, the kids can go "shopping" in the drawer throughout the school year. It saves us a ton of money over the school year and a lot of time as well (no emergency runs to the store because they need a supply for the next day).  Since school supplies never expire, you don't have to worry about buying more than you need. If you don't use it this year, you can simply roll it over to the next. 

Boys & Girls Club of America (BGCA) Back to School Initiative: Did you know that each year 1 million kids fail to graduate high school - ONE MILLION! This back to school season, BGCA and their long-time partner, Disney, have launched an online back to school supply drive. By simply playing a pop-quiz style game, you can help donate school supplies to your local BGCA.  For every five correct answers, a donation of supplies will be made. How often do you get to help an important cause buy simply playing a game?! By playing, you can help put up to 40,000 supplies into the hands of children who really need the help. There  is no reason a child should fail to succeed in school because they don't have the supplies necessary! I played myself and in just a couple of minutes I helped the cause and learned some interesting facts about BGCA!  Play here!
